Environmental law NGO calls for ban on carbon offsets marketing

ClientEarth is calling for the proposed EU anti-greenwashing directive to introduce a ban on companies using “carbon offsetting” as a marketing term.

Non-profit ClientEarth is calling for a ban on the advertising of carbon offsets by EU companies as a way to counter the negative environmental effects of their products, describing such marketing as “greenwashing”. This comes after members of the European Parliament failed to adopt an amendment to this effect this week during a vote on a proposed directive aimed at protecting consumers in the context of the green transition.
