ESG skills in financial services boards most prevalent among women, study finds

Women on the boards of financial companies are more likely to have gained sustainability experience compared to their male counterparts, according to a study by consultancy EY, which surveyed data on board director appointments across Europe. The countries reviewed include the UK, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

According to the study, 72 per cent of financial services board directors with sustainability experience, across these countries, are female. The current gender split across these boardrooms stands at 58 per cent male and 42 per cent female.
