In Brief: EU commission restricts use of microplastics; UK pensions regulator fines ExxonMobil

The European Commission has restricted the use of microplastics under the EU’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals legislation. The new rules will prohibit the sale of products that contain certain microplastics that are emitted in the environment when consumed. Some of the products under the scope of the regulation include sport surfaces, cosmetics, detergents, glitter, fertilisers and toys.
