UK should introduce green farming subsidies, says think-tank

Farming reforms that ‘balance food, nature and climate action’ and include fairer financial support are the best solution out of five possible scenarios, says Green Alliance.

With payments to UK farmers previously made under the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy being replaced with a ‘public money for public goods’ strategy, the government’s next decisions on reforms must balance food security with the environment and net zero action, according to environmental think-tank Green Alliance.
