Sovereigns’ ESG scores

While rating agencies are under scrutiny for often widely diverging views on companies’ ESG profiles, Verisk Maplecroft has zoomed in on sovereign ESG risks (and opportunities). Among the interesting discoveries: South Korea outperforms a number of developed countries, including the US, based on its ESG profile. Among the unsurprising findings: Russia languishes among the poorest performing G20 economies based on sustainability metrics, particularly on human rights and governance issues.
