In a recent study, US-based asset manager Mercer found that nearly three quarters (73 per cent) of its global peers have yet to set net zero targets across their investment strategies and that less than half (47 per cent) track companies’ or countries’ net zero commitments when selecting investments.
Perhaps not entirely surprising, particularly given some of the backlash against ESG, at least in the US, these findings are still rather striking. For its Global Asset Manager Survey 2022, Mercer polled more than 400 asset managers globally with asset managers with an aggregate of over $51trn under management.
