Investor interest in environmental, social and governance funds dipped in the third quarter of 2023, against a backdrop of high inflation and fears of recession, according to Morningstar

Investors pulled €20.5bn out of Article 8 funds in the third quarter of 2023, after redeeming a similar amount in the previous three months as concerns persisted over macroeconomic conditions and poor ESG fund performance. Inflows into Article 9 investment funds, meanwhile, hit rock bottom over the same period, according to data provider Morningstar.
