US federal agencies as well as activist organisations are regrouping in the wake of Supreme Court rulings that undermine laws on abortion and the reduction of carbon emissions. As early assessments are made on how damaging the court’s judgments could be in the long term, efforts are already under way to claw back some of the rights.
Reproductive rights advocates, for example, are mounting legal challenges designed to ensure access to abortion and warn of some states may bring forward legislation that expands their ability to enforce bans outside of the state’s perimeter and restrict out-of-state travel for abortions.
