Although at the margin of what we would ordinarily cover at Sustainable Views, a report on how facial recognition technology (FRT) threatens human rights is worth noting. It has been put together by an alliance of 21 investors led by Candriam and including Columbia Threadneedle, Aviva and Robeco.
They are concerned about the flip side of FRT: its impact on privacy, data protection and civil liberties as governments, law enforcement agencies and companies “are rushing” to adopt the technology to improve security, efficiency and customer experience.
