UN plastics treaty talks address need for mandatory disclosures

After the third, of five, rounds of negotiations in Kenya aimed at agreeing a Global Plastics Treaty, there are concerns some countries are more interested in waste management measures than ambitious action to cut plastic production

The idea of mandatory disclosure on plastics received positive feedback from companies, government representatives and the financial sector during negotiations on a Global Plastics Treaty, under the auspices of the UN Environment Programme in Nairobi last week, says CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), though the organisation echoed the call from other attendees for ambition around the treaty to remain high.
