On the right path?

The Transition Pathway Initiative has published a report that groups its frameworks for assessing corporate climate targets in 10 key high emitting sectors, based on the International Energy Agency’s scenarios. For example, TPI’s decarbonisation pathway for aviation says that an individual company that wants to be aligned with a 1.5°C path needs to show an emissions intensity by 2030 below 616 tonnes of CO2 per revenue tonne kilometre.

TPI is backed by investors with over $40tn of assets under management and advice, and its benchmark pathways are used as part of the Climate Action 100+ initiative. It works with the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, a research centre at the London School of Economics, and with FTSE Russell as a data provider.
