Europe plans emergency regulation to fast-track renewables permits

EU institutions are ready to cut red tape to boost renewable energy consumption, together with proposals to drive forward the bloc’s climate agenda and tackle the ongoing energy crisis.

In a further push to end Europe’s dependency on Russian gas, the European Commission proposed a temporary emergency regulation earlier this month to accelerate the deployment of renewables by shortening the process for obtaining permits.
