The UN-backed Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance has asked the EU to prioritise the inclusion of specific reporting metrics for the oil and gas, aviation, steel and other energy-intensive sectors in the European Sustainability Reporting Standards, given policy makers’ “ambitious timeline” for the standards.
In particular, the Alliance, which represents 74 investors with $10.6tn in assets, asked for separate emissions reporting on methane and that companies in the 12 sectors they identify as high-priority should report, in addition to historical data on Scope 1, 2 and, where material, Scope 3 emissions, forward-looking information at 5-year and 10-year intervals.
